Aquatint in sepia, image 29.5x22 cm.
Whatman Turkey Mill watermark paper.
A lovely view of Newmarket in Cambridgeshire, published in 1821. This is a sepia aquatint on paper based on an image found in Italian manuscript form from the "Travels of Cosmo III, Grand Duke of Tuscany, through England, during the reign of King Charles II (1669)".
The work was taken from a number of views "as delineated at that period by artists in the suite of Cosmo".
