Hand-colored engraved Seashell print from the early 1800s issued in the French natural history series Zoologie.
The prints are based on illustrations by Jean-Gabriel Prêtre - official painter for the French natural history museum, and for Empress Josephine's private zoo.
The French botanist and illustrator Pierre Turpin (1775-1840) directed the project.
