Matthäus Merian der Ältere (or "Matthew", "the Elder", or "Sr."; 22 September 1593 – 19 June 1650) was a Swiss-born engraver who worked in Frankfurt for most of his career, where he also ran a publishing house. He was a member of the patrician Basel Merian family.
Wettingen is a residential community in the district of Baden in the Swiss canton of Aargau. The former Cistercian abbey at Klosterstrasse 11 and the neolithic stone-lined graves at Schartenstrasse 77 are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance.
Overall size with margins: 19 x 17.5 cm. Neatly laid down (as often) on contemporary card.
