Fine and exceedingly rare devotional engraving on vellum by Abraham von Merlen (1579-1660).
11.5 x 9 cm
Abraham von Merlen was an engraver and (later) publisher. In 1597 he became pupil of Adrian Collaert and he died in 1660. For his sons see Theodoor II, and Jacques.
Etching with original rich gouache on creamy white vellum. Small stain / fingering to vellum (most visible on verso).
17th century ownership signature to verso (“Marieanne Bourgogne”).
Extremely rare. Part of printed signature obscured.
