Sursee, Schnyder, 1833.
8vo. 20,5 x 12,3 cm. [2], (iv), pp. 261. Fine vellum backed marbled boards with gilt label to spine. - Minimal foxing. A very good example of a rare book by Snell.
Rare work by one the most influential liberal radical theorists of his time in which he argues against the progressive usurpion of the Roman curia within catholic Switzerland.
Ludwig Snell (1785-1853), who was born in Idstein (Nassau, Germany), arrived in Switzerland in 1827, after being banned from his profession by the Prussians in the context of the so-called ‘demagogue persecution’ of 1820 and a stay in Great Britain. Today he is regarded as one of the most influential liberal radical theorists in Switzerland.
(NDB 24, 516).
