Etching after Benjamin West's 1770 painting "The Death of General Wolfe" commemorating the Battle of Quebec in 1759 in which General James Wolfe died in the moment of victory.

Published by the Klauber brothers, Augsburg.

Print shows Gen. James Wolfe, lying mortally wounded on field, surrounded by soldiers and a Native, during the siege of Quebec in 1759.

This rare variant was completed by the famed Swiss engraver Theodor Falkeisen shortly after that of William Woollett. Bartsch notes it to be of equal quality to that of Woollett for which is was copied.
