Illustrations by Ludlow were in the first edition 1873 and the second in 1880. All are clean unmarked copies.

Chromolithograph prints used a stone for each colour and each separate color was laid on top of the previous one. As such, the paper sheet was printed on several times before the print was finished. Colours were built up in layers on the final print, to achieve the effect.
