Jerome Lalande was an 18th-century French astronomer who is best remembered for his contributions to the legibility of astronomical tables. From these tables, Lalande composed a collection of astronomy textbooks, textbooks which would become standard literature on practical astronomical study. This 1795 edition of 'Astronomie' features 16 impressive, folding engravings. These illustrations depict star charts, armillary spheres, navigational tools and compasses, planetary motion, phases of the moon, and much more.

In excellent overall condition. Minor rubbing to binding.
