Abbe Pierre Joseph Bonnaterre (1752-1804) was a French naturalist. He added copious portions on mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, and fish to the Encyclopedie Methodique. In total he created around 400 illustrations for this work. Bonnaterre is credited with 25 new species of fish.
