From the First Edition of Le Antichità di Ercolano Esposte (Accademia Ercolanese Di Archeologia - Herculaneum) -- The Antiquities of Herculaneum. The series was initiated by Carlo III, King of Naples, and subsequently compiled by the Accademia Ercolanese (Herculaneum Academy) and printed by the Regia Stamperia (Royal Printing House) in Naples between 1755 and 1792. It is the first literature on the excavations of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae, and contributed significantly to the formation of the neoclassic style which spread over Europe throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. A visually stunning plate with historical importance.
