Michel Natalis (1610-1668) was a painter, artist, and engraver from Belgium who used the best Flemish engravers of the day including members of the Wierix family, C. de Mallory, and A. Collaert, all related to the Galle publishing house in Antwerp. Most of the plates are after drawings of the Italian artist Bernardo Passeri, and a few are after drawings by Martin de Vos.
Evangelicae historiae imagines: ex ordine Evangeliorum quae toto anno in Missae sacrificio recitandur, in ordinem temporis vitae Christi digestae/auctore Hieronymo Natali Societatis Iesu... (Antwerp, 1593). This edition ca 1620.
Shortening the title, it is known as the Biblia Natalis in reference to the name of its promoter, P. Jeroni Nadal i Morey from Mallorca, student and successor of Ignatius of Loyola, and its engravings make it one of the most superb Flemish illustrated works of the sixteenth century and of the Counter-Reformation.
